Police in Germany shoot, kill U.S. soldier after violent domestic incident

BERLIN (CNN) — German police in a Bavarian town overnight have shot and
killed a U.S. soldier after what appeared to be a violent domestic incident,
local police said.

Police said a man was armed with a military style semi-automatic M4
assault rifle, took his girlfriend hostage in her house and tied her up.

The woman fled and called police, who launched a manhunt for the gunman.
