Iran Tests New Air-To-Sea Missile

Post by Julstar »

Iran said Sunday it tested a new air-to-sea missile with a range of 110 kilometers, the Fars new agency reported.

It didn't say when the test was conducted.

"Iranian defense specialists are able to successfully install missiles with a range of 110 km on fighter planes and launch them," the report said, adding that the high-precision weapon weighs about 500 kilograms.

The report said the latest test showed the Islamic republic's "ability to automatically direct the missile and carry warheads to destroy large targets at sea."

I see nothing wrong with this. It's obviously for coastal defence purposes.

I don't see Iran invading any country and using this weapon in an offensive manner. I don't see Iran using it against Kuwait, against Saudi Arabia, against Iraq, against Pakistan, against any of the Caspian Sea countries, or any other countries.

All coastal countries have their own defences. In fact, Israel and the United States have missiles that can blow up ships too.

Why this is in the terrorist news thread is beyond me. These weapons are not in the hands of terrorists nor do the terrorists have airplanes that can launch this weapon. In fact, we don't even know if these weapons have been successfully tested yet.

More fear-mongering and bogey-man scare-tactics, as always. "Ohhhhh!! Iran is going to huff and puff and blllllooowwwww your house down! GRRRR!!"

I don't mean to intrude on moderator duties, but if you go back to the "Terrorist Media Topics" thread (viewforum.php?f=15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), this news thread clearly states:

"News
News Related to Terrorism and Terrorist Acts",

with your name, Cell_Leader, and ikaotiki listed right under.

This missile bit of news has nothing to do with terrorism or terrorist acts. In fact, I've seen threads in this news thread that were moved to the general news thread because it had nothing to do with terrorism or terrorist acts.
