Some kids in Broward County avoided a potentially explosive situation when they found two pipe bombs while they played at a park and then carried them away.
The two bombs were discovered Sunday at a neighborhood located on the 300 block of Northwest 78th Avenue in Plantation by a group of children. But instead of leaving the potentially destructive devices where they were found, the kids decided to take it to the home of a BSO deputy, who lived nearby.
Once in the adult's custody, the BSO bomb squad arrived and detonated the devices.
The bombs were plastic and not metal, which can do more damage. But even the plastic bombs could have done some serious damage to the children if they went off while being carried.
Investigators are unsure how the bombs got in the park and if there was an intended target for the explosives.
