EVERY MAN, WOMAN, and CHILD in IRAQ will recieve a dividend check from the oil in Iraq.

Iraq is on the verge of finding out whether it will succumb to the curse or defeat it. Norway offers an interesting model for the Iraqis to consider. Assuming things ever calm down, Iraq will decide how to use the nation's oil wealth to benefit its putative owners—the long-suffering Iraqi people.

More than a year ago, Steven Clemons of the New America Foundation suggested that Iraq duplicate the Alaska Permanent Fund. Established in the 1970s, the fund guarantees that at least a quarter of all oil revenues received by the state be invested on behalf of the state's hardy residents. It has grown into a huge, highly diversified mutual fund. According to its September 2004 report, the APF has about $28 billion in assets. Each year, it pays out dividends to qualified residents—$919.84 per person. And in many ways, it's a classically American approach—built on a concept of individual ownership and intended to spur demand and consumption. Last year, the fund injected about $581 million into the state's economy.

YESSSSS this is great for the people....That $919.84 per year, and per person in Alaska, means every MAN, WOMAN, and CHILD. AND NOW in IRAQ ALSO!! They will be paid, I would say a hell of a lot MORE money, being Iraq has a hell of a lot more Oil revenues than Alaska every thought of. It's works for the Alaskan citizens since 1982. So the more Children the Iraqie's have the money thay will be paid per year.

HERE is how the Dividend check works in Alaska, and will work the same way for Iraq's people.

Norway paids dividend checks to it's citizens too. BUT Saudi Arabia does not paid anything. neither does Russia

Saudi Arabia has been pumping far more oil than Norway and for a far longer time. But its oil revenues tend to flow into the bank accounts of the royal family—not into a segregated account to benefit the public at large.

I think this is one of the greatest things that could happen to the Iraqi people.

YES that is what we all have been hearing for a few years now. I found a lot of sites on the Internet about the Oil dividend money. There is a lot of other countries that pay oil dividend money to their citizens too!

I think it's strange how NONE of the Muslims on this site has anything good to say about all this!!

Because considering how 911 aid went "STRAIGHT TO THE VICTIMS", and how "NOBODY DID FRAUD", we just don't know how to actually accept this even greater thing and full-blast truth from the American government.

well they lost more than they have gained. you won't please a man who lost his son or home by giving him any amount of money.

You are right about loosing a child and giving the parents any amount of money will not heal that hurt. That is a hurt that only a Mother and Father can feel. Iraqie people have lost more than they have gained for hunderds of years. NOT just the last 2. When something like the Oil Dividend check comes in every month, when they did not have it while Saddam was in power. Saddam took all the oil money, and let his countries people go without.

I would say this proves a fact that the US isn't in there to take the Oil as it has been said.

I used to live in Alaska in 1999 and the Oil Dividend checks were paid out monthly to everyone including all the children too. It was about 900 US dollars a month for "each" family member. the more kids they had the money the Govenment paid out. So some familes were racking in up 6 to 7 thousand dollars a month.

BUT since Iraq has more Oil revenues the Iraqie people will get a lot more than what Alaska's Oil divedend checks are.... There are a few countries in the world that pay their countries people oil divedend checks. That is what I have read on some of the sites that are telling about it. This is a great thing for all Iraqie people.. Don't you think?
