British Muslims poll
Only for education. It's very interesting...
British Muslims poll: Key points
Key findings from a survey by the centre-right think tank, Policy Exchange, of more than 1,000 Muslims living across the UK.
Monday, 29 January 2007 news.bbc.co.uk
RELIGION
86% of Muslims feel that religion is the most important thing in their life
36% of 16 to 24-year-olds believe if a Muslim converts to another religion they should be punished by death, compared with 19% of over-55s
62% of 16 to 24-year-olds feel they have as much in common with non-Muslims as Muslims, compared with 71% of over-55s
EDUCATION
60% of Muslims would prefer to send their children to a mixed state school, compared with 35% who would prefer to send their child to an Islamic school
37% of 16 to 24-year-olds would prefer to send their children to Islamic state schools, compared with 19% of over-55s
SHARIA LAW
59% of Muslims would prefer to live under British law, compared with 28% who would prefer to live under Sharia law
37% of 16 to 24-year-olds prefer Sharia compared with 17% of over-55s
LIFESTYLE
74% of 16 to 24-year-olds would prefer Muslim women to choose to wear the veil, compared with only 28% of over-55s
21% of Muslims have consumed alcohol
65% have paid interest on a normal mortgage
19% have gambled
9% have admitted to taking drugs
FOREIGN POLICY
7% "admire organisations like al-Qaeda that are prepared to fight the West". 13% of 16 to 24-year-olds agreed with this statement compared with 3% of over-55s
41% named foreign policy as an important issue to Muslims but they were not necessarily more informed or engaged than the wider population
58% believe that "many of the problems in the world today are a result of arrogant Western attitudes"
CAUSING OFFENCE
37% believe that "one of the benefits of modern society is the freedom to criticise other people's religious or political views, even when it causes offence"
28% of Muslims believe that authorities in Britain go over the top in trying not to offend Muslims
75% believe it was wrong for a council to ban an advertisement for a Christmas carol service in 2003 for fear of causing tension
64% believe it was wrong for a council to ban all images of pigs from its offices, for example on calendars and toys in 2005, for fear of offending Muslims
SUGGESTIONS MADE IN REPORT
Stop emphasising difference and engage with Muslims as citizens, not through their religious identity
Recognise that the Muslim "community" is not homogenous, and attempts to give group rights or representation will only alienate sections of the population further
Stop treating Muslims as a vulnerable group. The exaggeration of Islamophobia does not make Muslims feel protected but instead reinforces feelings of victimisation and alienation
Encourage a broader intellectual debate in order to challenge the crude anti-Western, anti-British ideas that dominate cultural and intellectual life. This means allowing free speech and debate, even when it causes offence to some minority groups
Keep a sense of perspective. The obsession of politicians and the media with scrutinising the wider Muslim population, either as victims or potential terrorists, means that Muslims are regarded as outsiders, rather than as members of society like everyone else

Well, Im muslim so fuck you and dont dare to call me kuffar and Id rather live under US laws than shariah law
why?
Because I have NOT seen any country practice shariah law fairly without going to the extreme.
Look at the taliban and Saudi Arabia
That aint Sharia law
I have my own views of being muslim.
The sharia law I've seen is NOT God's law.
Gday
P.S I GOT A 4.0 on my report card, bitches.

You didn't read the complete post, i said you would only be kuffar if you have enough knowledge to know that the shariah is made up of god laws and these are better then any other law made by human being. Listening to your comments you just don't know anything of shariah and you lack a lot of basic islamic knowledge. On this moment you are just a brainwashed lad caused by living and mixing in a kuffar country ( that's why i think some ulama call it haram to live in a kuffar country without good reasons) and watching to much television. This means you are unwarrented and i shall not respond to you in this case. May alah lead you from the dark into the light. amingrayhat wrote:Well, Im muslim so fuck you and dont dare to call me kuffar and Id rather live under US laws than shariah law

Well your post prove otherwise, because really lad if you would prefer any human law above god's law you really don't know anything. So if you are right please prove to us by quoting a famous islamic scholar that you are right. The problem is you can't you just made up your own rules for yourself and called it islam and thus you are a muslim in your own deen. And you think you can differ between good and evil, extrimist and moderates, but who again you make up your own rules. And now to analyze what the basis for making your own rules, this is offcource the things your parents grew you up with and the things you see in the place you live. All this aren't valid means to justify your declaritains. With those things you can only say something about your family and life in the USL, but nothing about islam or extrimism or shariah, because you just don't know hat this means.grayhat wrote:From your avatar, I can tell your the true one who is brainwashed.
Get the extremist propaganda out of your fuckin head.
God won't love you for blowing yourself and killing innocent people.
Fuck off and don't call yourself muslim, I know more about the religion than you.
Wanker.
And unlike you i won't say you are not a muslim, i am just saying you have a lot too learn, like myself. In the mean time don't judge muslims or call somebody extrimist and here is a hadith concerning this subject ( and calling me not to be a muslim)
The Messenger sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam said: "He who says to his brother 'O Disbeliever', then it returns upon one of them."
Reported by al-Bukhaaree, Muslim, Maalik, at-Tirmidhee and Abu Dawood.

I'd rather live under the laws Im living under today because true Sharia law does not exist, the forms of Sharia law you see in other arab countries have been corrupted or been fundamentalized in one way or another.
I'm all for Sharia law. But until I see a country carrying Sharia law the way its actually supposed to be carried out, and not biased. I won't.

Lest it be overlooked: Good job on the 4.0! I work VERY hard for mine, well, until I came here and now am addicted to this place!
Back to the news: we debated this very issue on another thread:
If one can be called Muslim if they are practicing laws and ways of kuffar (voting, interest, being secular, xyz) and who determines if one can be called kuffar or munafiqh or call (if I'm saying it right) calling takfeer on another Muslim (like many believe SHIA are not real Muslims, though to see them march this weekend in NY migth tell you otherwise) .. so this subject continues, in news and in life.

No person's life is ever a waste: it can always be used (as a bad example)!

Re: British Muslims poll
and what gives you the godgiven right to judge other muslims are you a prophet or a god it is you that needs to learn Islam in its true meaning and sense, and you should stop degrading other muslims that take you to task for your fanatical fundamentalist thoughts on Islam

DenichMsk posted an interesting article, and threeblow was the first person to express his opinion about it, which he is entitled to do.
What was the very first sentence grayhat wrote???
He's very lucky not to get another warning for that!grayhat wrote:Well, Im muslim so fuck you and dont dare to call me kuffar and Id rather live under US laws than shariah law

Please show uss where i insulted grayhat and called him a kuffar. Please read the post carefully before you say something, because i clearly said that these muslims say something that's contradicts islam cause of ignorance and not of disbelief. And please don't talk about things you know nothing about, islam in particular, For one who's lost can never be a guide for another.stormseal wrote:yet you allow threeblow to insult grayhat by him inferring that grayhat is a bad muslim and a kuffer come on lets see fair play here for once, grayhat would not react in that way unless he had been insulted and in mine and i am sure others eyes he was insulted in a bad way by the very words that threeblow said

that is correct but you failed to see the insult by threeblow when he stated that muslims that did not follow sharia were bad muslims and kuffer threeblow used that wording to flame and cause insult to grayhat , now even you should see that, threeblow had no damn right to insinuate/instigate that insult, and i can well understand the anger that grayhat must have felt, which resulted in that out of character comments made by him threeblow insulted grayhats integrity and his faith
