Uncle Sam wants US Muslims to serve
Here's a nice little article from the Christian Science Monitor:
Uncle Sam wants US Muslims to serve

WASHINGTON - As US troops battle Islamic extremists abroad, the Pentagon and the armed forces are reaching out to Muslims at home.
An underlying goal is to interest more Muslims in the military, which needs officers and troops who can speak Arabic and other relevant languages and understand the culture of places like Iraq and Afghanistan. The effort is also part of a larger outreach. Pentagon officials say they are striving for mutual understanding with Muslims at home and abroad and to win their support for US war aims. Among the efforts to attract and retain Muslim cadets:
*West Point and the other service academies have opened Muslim prayer rooms, as have military installations.
*Imams serve full- and part-time as chaplains at the academies and some bases.
*Top non-Muslim officers and Pentagon officials have taken to celebrating religious events with Muslims overseas and here in the US.
"There is a message here, and that is that Muslims and the Islamic religion are totally compatible with Western values," says Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England in an interview.
For the past two years, Mr. England has hosted an iftar, the feast that ends the daytime fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. His guests have included ambassadors, leaders of the Muslim-American community, and Muslims who serve in the US armed forces.
President Bush also hosted an iftar at the White House in October, as he has done for several years. Gen. Robert Magnus, the assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, held one the same month at the Marine Corps Barracks in Washington for defense attachés from predominantly Muslim nations.
The Marines also have allowed Muslims in their ranks at Quantico some dispensations to make it easier to practice their religion, says Lieutenant Commander Saifulislam, a US citizen born and raised in Bangladesh. During Ramadan, "they're allowed to have some time off to prepare for their fasting break and not to go to physical training" while fasting, he says.
Col. John Cook, the senior chaplain at West Point, says that after media reports about the academy's new Muslim prayer room, he got a call from a self-described "concerned citizen" who fretted that "the Muslims are taking over the world."
"I told him, 'I'm a Christian chaplain, but I have the responsibility to provide for other faith groups,' " Colonel Cook says. Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish cadets all have their own chapels at West Point, he notes.

CS Monitor seems quite biased to me....
and they have some WILD ass stories sometimes....
but back to the topic...
makes sense the US would want more Muslims to join....
to show they are not in this for religious reasons...
its not about defeating Muslims
its about defeating radical Islam...
as well as radical "any religion"....

For once I'm going to have to agree with StormSeal. No bother what religion you are , wether your Muslim Or Jew or w/e, if you are living in a country and are not willing to fight for it, then you don't belong there.
Im a muslim, Im not going to join the army at all ( If I would it would be the air force ) but if there was a draft I'd fight my time.
All you fellow muslims need to either call yourself Americans or get the fuck out.
Yeah I am a faithful and muslim and said that, call me kaffir lover if you wish.
Salaan and Happy Eid.

freedom and democracy doesnt come cheap, if you are not prepared to defend your country, and that freedom/democracy, then you should move elsewhere. I hope they do start compulsory military service in America then we will see the real Americans and get rid of loads of Paracites, if they refuse then they should have NO entitlement to State Benifits of any kind

u just proved that u are not a muslim. how long have you and your relatives been in this country? my parents immigrated here before having me. well if you want to go fight alongside "people" that rape our woman, have night raids killing innocent families and call us terrible names then go ahead, you are no muslim in my eyes....grayhat wrote:For once I'm going to have to agree with StormSeal. Fighting alongside the american coalition these days is like someone back in Prophet Muhammads (PBUH) time fighting alongside the mushrikeen against the muslims.
Make up your mind, rape your own people and help ruin more lives by supporting the police army or do something good for your people

First of all, Where do you live?
If you live in either Europe or America, you are a hypocrite, munafiqueen.
I don't care wether you call me muslim or not because Allah knows I am muslim.
When did I say i support the governments foreign policies?
All i said if i was forced to fight, I will fight.
If you live in a country you wouldn't die for you don't belong there.
And, my family is orginally from Afghanistan, they immigrated to Deutchland during the Ruski- Mujahideen war and I lived in Deutchland for 7 years, before moving to America.
Look at you, you think your some mujahideen , but yet. You spend your time on a forum in the interweb calling other traitors.
And once again your stereotyping all Americans or non believers into being people who call us names and rape our women.
The insurgents in Iraq are no better than the soldiers who rape because they murder innocents and they incite sectarian violence.
Go back to school and educate yourself, read the Qu'ran and learn the true definition of Jihad and the rules of war. Then come back to me and we will debate.
because at the moment you are nothing to me, just a young teenage muslim who has no idea what Islam truly represents.
Salaam.
